I went to the dentist today and wound up selling three copies of The Making of an Icon: The Dreamers, The Schemers, and The Hard Hats Who Built the Gateway Arch. My dentist bought one, the hygienist bought another, and the lady who took my money bought a third.
I signed the dentist’s copy: “Here’s a book you can sink your teeth into.”
I met with my editor this morning at Shaw’s Coffee to go over his and my final corrections for the Gateway Arch book. After we were done, he told me I would get another PDF next week so I could look it over a final final, final time. Lorraine was thrilled about the prospects of looking at it again. WILL WE EVER BE DONE WITH THIS BOOK?
With this post, Heidi the Beer, Brats, and Baseball beer lady is moving to a new address: stlouisgermans.com. I’ve posted here at jimmerkelauthor.wordpress.com for several months but want to be at the new address before we publish the book. There will be lots of neat features that will help people get the most enjoyment from Beer, Brats, and Baseball, plus learn about the German community here. I’ll have a link to this website. Reading it since I started gives a sense of the commitment needed to write a book.
Turned in one set of proofs. Won’t get another set until tomorrow. So I worked on a new web site, “stlouisgermans.com,” which goes up in a few days.
I went to the studio to record much of the script of my video today. Otherwise, a day off.
The photo shows videographer David Ayres shooting part of a video of me at the German Cultural Society’s Sommerfest today. The promotional video about the book will be out some time before its release. David’s new wife Chelsea Ayres took the picture. The successful writer has to expect to sell, sell, sell.
Good day, though a tiring one. I was thrilled that Bill McClellan used an odd item I found while doing research as the basis of a column.
I’m moving ahead on proofing and working on the video. Tomorrow I’ll go to Sommerfest with David and Chelsea Ayres for some shooting of the video.
Worked on proofs and made changes to the script. I’m going out to the German Cultural Society’s Sommerfest on Saturday with David and Chelsea Ayres to shoot some of the video.
