Today I headed over to the Gaylord Music Library of Washington University to look at the 1983 doctoral dissertation of my friend Fred Blumenthal. It’s on German’s contributions to music in St. Louis. I looked it over and scanned in parts on how they contributed to the start of the St. Louis Symphony in St. Louis. Then I finished the Bardenheier piece and plowed into my bibliography. It’s more than 20 pages, single spaced! It’s getting there, but I hate it.
