Got a lot done tonight. I polished up my vignette on Martin Stephan, who brought about 600 Lutherans to the area and then got expelled from his community in a sex scandal. That group formed the basis of what became the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. I also sent some e-mails to people who are are studying their German Geneology. Fifteen days to go.
I sent in my pieces on the St. Louis Symphony and the German influence on Jazz, after Lorraine did her usual thorough job of proofreading. Speaking of proofreading, my good friend Jim Rygelski started proofing stuff I’ve already turned in. He said this: “Very, very well done, Jim! I found it well written, researched and most interesting. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of it.” Neat, eh? Sixteen days to go.
Can I do this, Ken? Am I crazy, Ramona? I’ve got 17 days until the drop-dead deadline of May 29. Before that time I have to do four vignettes and finish a fifth, make corrections on two more my editor handed back for more work and finish the confounded bibliography. Tonight I finished my vignette on how Germans helped form the St. Louis Symphony. That’s out of the way. But how am I going to finish? Meine Güte!
After spending maybe 90 minutes on my bibliography, it seems like my pile of things to be replaced is higher than before. But I’m not discouraged, because I’ve finally brought just about all of the various unentered things from hither and yon to that one stack. Now it has to go down. Eighteen days to go. Can I do it?
